Can a Canon 5D MKIII replace my video camera and SLR?

I heard that the 5D MkIII can not capture images of action and a video camera so that people can not be considered as a replacement. The sample videos I've seen do a decent job with what they have captured the movement, and the Nikon D90 sample videos are brilliant. Why should not I replace both my D80 and my crapcorder with a piece of equipment?
