What is the best digital camera (point and shoot) of landscapes outdoors?

I'm going backpacking in Europe this summer and wants to buy a new digital camera for my trip. I am looking for a point and shoot, capable of taking sharp, colorful outdoor pictures (ideally 7MP and 3x zoom). Moreover, I would like the camera to use normal batteries, since I will not be able to carry a charger for lithium battery. The suggestions before venturing into Best Buy?

I just returned from sailing for nine and a half weeks in the Caribbean and needed a wide angle lens for landscapes and while sailing. I would not have been able to shoot at the beautiful islands that had taken a point and shoot camera.
