Announced earlier this year, Subaru tinkered with its engine design, and after some deliberation and help from manufacturer Toyota came out with turbo diesel engine. The engine still maintains its claim to fame "boxer" engine design that keeps pumping pistons horizontally rather than up and down.
With all the rage in Europe on clean-burning diesel engines that produce less pollution and get stellar gas mileage, the choice of vehicles from the Europeans in recent years have been predominantly diesel series. The German car manufacturers have created serious draw from all around the world, especially in Japan, where several major car manufacturers are launching their diesel engines in Europe. One is the engine of Fuji Heavy Industries.
Automaker Subaru, best known in the U.S., a subsidiary of the much larger conglomerate based in Japan called Fuji Heavy Industries Ltd (FHI, for short). The two models Subaru released are the Outback and Legacy sedan. FHI, parts manufacturers Subaru Legacy, had to revamp its design programs to fit a new engine based in different physical mechanics. The new designs that, when in fact the engine and the engine center of gravity was lower in the car, climbing the management of what would be walk less manageable.
Both models have already landed in Spain and go on sale soon. Later, Subaru will bring more of its workforce model of care with the Impreza rally legend and crossover SUV, the Forester.
The Boxer Design and Integration of Diesel Technology
