The Kodak EasyShare C180 is based around a ten megapixel 1/2.3 "CCD imaging with a Kodak-branded 3x zoom lens with a 32 – 96mm equivalent focal range – a fairly standard wide angle to a moderate telephoto. The corresponding pricing its budget, the Kodak C180 has a 2.4 inch LCD and 115,000 points, and no optical viewfinder. They are an increasingly rare option these days, but cameras with optical viewfinders add a good degree of versatility, which allows you to take when you can not make out the LCD in bright sunlight, or save battery life by disabling the LCD when accurate framing is not vital. It's a shame that the C180 lacks the option, but certainly understandable given the pricepoint. The images are stored on Secure Digital / MultiMediaCard (including new types SDHC), or 16 MB of internal memory available.

The Kodak C180 offers a generous 16 scene modes to help beginners achieve the results they are looking for without the need to understand subtleties like shutter speed, the openings, etc.. The C180 also includes face detection, which is used to take account of the faces of the subject in the calculation of exposure variables. Exhibitions are determined using multi-pattern, center weighted or center-spot TTL metering, and -2.0 exposure compensation is offered in increments of 1/3EV. Five settings white balance are available, including an automatic mode, and ISO 80-240 is controlled automatically, or manually from 80 to 1250 equivalent. The EasyShare C180 also offers a movie mode, capturing 30 frames per second VGA (640×480) or QVGA (320×240) Video, QuickTime Motion JPEG format – Sigma.

The C180 offers a USB 2.0 connection (type unspecified), through the images and movies can be transferred to your computer. Energy for the C180 comes with two AA batteries, with the record company Oxy-Alkaline, Alkaline or Lithium disposable and compatible, and NiMH rechargeable batteries – without doubt the best option for most uses. Kodak disposable alkaline included in the package of products, so be sure to factor in the cost of some rechargeable batteries and a charger to make purchase, unless you already have these on hand.
