Close Focus

Anybody know of a lens that can focus very close to the subject?
Does anyone know of a lens, preferably primary, that can focus very close to the subject (for the Nikon F mount)? not necessarily have to be a macro lens, simply close focusing ability. the lens with the focusing that can find is the Nikon 18-55mm II, which can 11.5cm focus of the front of the lens. Does anyone know of any that can focus more closely? I know of several compact cameras that have a 1cm macro mode … Why is that compact cameras that the lens can focus up close, but not interchangeable? thanks. i could use a macro extension tube, but rather that if there was an objective that could concentrate near …?
The ability to close approach is the reason Macro lenses behind. It is the only way, look at the bellows and extension tubes that do the same job. A macro lens is a standard lens with extension tube compacts built in. The reason is because they can focus more, because the smaller sensor, they need to achieve the same degree of enlargement. To give an idea that a 50mm lens on a APS size sensor will give about 4 times its size with a set of bellows at maximum extension. The goal would be within an inch of matter. This makes it difficult, as its in its own light, so that photographers often use a 135mm lens, you will receive exactly the same framework and expansion, but from farther away (about 4 inches), due to the inverse square law 500mm lens you get exactly the same wall about 6 feet away!
