The Sony Cybershot DSC W210 offers plenty of power with its 12-megapixel sensor. This camera is small enough to fit in most pockets. Available in silver, dark gray, pink and green. The Cybershot DSC W210 has a 4x optical zoom.

For most purposes it is likely to find excess of 12 megapixels. Even if you're looking to make large prints to be found 6 to 8 megapixels much unless you're looking for up to poster size and beyond. If you were planning to do, then most likely you are looking to invest in a more expensive and better camera all modes.

For me, the great advantage of having as many megapixels is that Sony has included a feature called Smart Zoom. This allows you to increase the amount of zoom available as long as they are willing to sacrifice some of the megapixels to shoot. In the past I even shoot at a lower megapixel can increase the quality of images you shoot. Other advantages include taking up less space on a memory card and faster time to upload your photos to a computer. If you enable Smart zoom can increase up to 25x zoom. This may be exaggerated, as in this adjustment can only capture images for playback on a computer or television screen, but there a lot of steps in the middle where you can find the right balance between print size and zoom.

The Cybershot DSC W210 fits into a group of cameras pocket that are less expensive than the upper end models. The major reasons behind savings tend to be the camera design and build quality. If you do not mind fairly flat looking for a digital camera then you can save a bundle.

In terms of features there is little to choose between this camera and some of the most expensive. The 2.7-inch LCD screen compares quite well and the only obvious feature that I think is missing here is the stabilization mechanical image. This is where image stabilization is handled well by gyroscopes in the lens or making small changes to the sensor position.

Apart from that Sony has incorporated some of the features latest buzz. These include Face Detection for clearer portraits and a smile shutter automatically fires a shot when the Sony Cybershot W210 detects someone is smiling. I never noticed that face detection to make much difference in a portrait and only you can decide how much value you add a smile to the camera shutter for you. Something not often see on a camera of this size is the ability to add conversion lenses. This may improve the ability of telephoto or wide-angle camera. To do this you must also buy a lens adapter.

The camera is capable of producing high-definition still images, but movies can only standard-definition output.

Overall I found the camera easy to use. Sony showcases a sensible menus. They are the icon instead of text-based, but the text is when you scroll through the icons.

When it comes to image quality of the Sony Cybershot W210 does a solid job. I can not say the images it produces are nothing unusual, but all the camera does a decent job all round if you are looking for a general snapshot camera with a reasonable price.

Similar Cameras you may want to check out include the Panasonic Lumix FS6, FS7 Panasonic Lumix, Panasonic Lumix FS15 and the Olympus FE-5000.
