darkroom enlarger-connecting a timer!?

I connect an enlarger timer for me, but I'm unsure about this? will be much appreciated.

Plug the enlarger to the back of the timer. Plug the timer into the wall. Set the timer, start it. If your enlarger on and off take the amount of time you have. If not try a different connection to the timer. Test without using paper. You'll get. Their are many types equipment to provide further advice actions.
