Difference between a DSLR and a digital rangefinder?

I wonder what is so good that a Leica M8 compared to a Leica Digi-Lux 3.

A single-lens reflex camera (SLR), uses a mirror between the film medium (or digital) to reflect light in the viewfinder. This allows you to focus and compose through the lens. Then flip the mirror out of the way when taking a photo. In rangefinders lens is mounted directly in front of the media. While the display is mounted on the side. Because you can not see directly through the objective of these cameras need of an entirely different approach. In fact, the name of these cameras comes from the fact that they have incorporated distance meter … a tool used to determine the distance by aligning two images overlap. You can ask why the use of that system. But remember that both rangefinder and SLR now predate the digital age. You could not see directly through the film as you can with a digital sensor. Also because passive optical, both rangefinders and SLR use far less power, while the composition (and thus allow for life better battery life) of digital cameras. And do not wash in a bright light. Compared with the SLR, rangefinders tend to be a bit smaller. Because we do not have to cover the additional space that takes a mirror, wide angle lenses tend to perform better too. And since no separate viewfinder is a period closed after pressing the shutter. However, the current crop of digital rangefinders, what few of them there, is seriously flawed. Due in part to the fact that technology has not been allowed to mature compared to DSLRs. Also, the demanding nature of digital technology has presented its own challenges for this type of camera. EDIT: My apologies. Originally mistaken the part Lux 3 for the D-LUX 3, a P & S.
