What is a recommended brand of wireless flash trigger?

I need to get a trigger for my flash unit hand, but I do not know what brand to get. I want something sturdy and reliable, but I do not need something as crazy as Pocket Wizards, which allow you to synchronize kilometers away, are also about $ 800 for a couple and if I can get something that works great short and medium range synchronization at a decent price, I'd be very happy.
