Fujifilm Finepix?

I can not upload photos from my camera Fujifilm S5000/Finepix. I have all the necessary software installed, but nothing happens when I connect the AC adapter connector or a card reader. Everything that appears is a message that says "Safe to Remove Hardware"??? Do you think maybe it a problem with the USB ports Thanks?? Any ideas? in advance! Well …. I tried everything, but the xD still not being read. Is there someone who is USB is a problem? And if so, what is the fix?

"The card is regcognized when you have the camera adapter? Try connecting only the USB cable directly to your computer instead of receiving and inserting the card into the card reader …. among my 8 cameras are 4 of Fuji, and two are at 5200 and 9100. I have problems with different xD, .. but in general are great cameras and never fail to appear when connected to thyey my MACS either directly or in a reader card ….
