If I use a pro film camera lenses with a digital camera Pro, will it work?

If I use a film pro lenses camera with a digital camera Pro, will it work? My dad has a Nikon N2020 and I wonder if we can remove the very long lens camera and fit into Pro one digital camera body. The lens is quite long and kindof expensive, but now digital cameras are here, do not want to replace the lens. Any help please?

some 35mm SLR lenses work well in the digital body with the same lens mount. just might be the focus manually
