Pro Pack

Thinking about building a Pro Tools recording studio digital audio at home? Well a great way to get it running easily and cheaply digidesigns is one of Pro Tools Bundles.

There are four of them altogether, two have the standard Mbox 2 and two have the Mbox 2 Pro I'm going to list them all hear and give key details of the differences in each package.

First, all four bundles have these five major components in common:

• Mbox Interface
• Pro Tools LE 7 Software
• Studio Monitors
• Microphone
• Ignition Pack (Software Group)

The package is named;

1. Digidisign Pro Tools Mbox 2 Bundle
2. Digidisign Pro Tools Mbox 2 Pro Bundle
3. Digidisign Pro Tools Mbox 2 Factory Bundle
4. Digidisign Pro Tools Mbox 2 Pro Factory Bundle

The first difference:
Packages 1 and 3 have the Mbox 2 and blocks 2 and 4 have the Mbox 2 Pro The Mbox 2 regularly use the port USB connection and the Mbox 2 Pro is FireWire. Some people argue that the latest USB technology can be even faster than FireWire, while this may be true for some applications but not for music recording. For recording audio FireWire is faster than USB, which will give audible delay light called latency. Often you use a USB Mbox and redirect up to a mixer which can bypass the latency problem, but even being there with the boxes FireWire.

The second difference:
Below are the studio monitors. Packages priced below the 2 1 and 3 (same packages that have the USB Mbox 2) come with a pair of FOSTEX PMO.4 Powered studio monitors. These are slightly lower than the M-Audio Active Monitors BX5a that come with the 2 a little more expensive and 4 packs.

The third difference:
The microphone packages 1 and 3 is the Audio-Technica AT2020 Cardioid Microphone. A decent and good microphone for recording digital. Packages 2 and 4, have a AKG perception 200 condenser microphone that has a larger membrane and that the frequency range of Audio-Technica.

There are some other differences, such as the power package. Although all packages come with it, the 2 most money has a packet of sweets a few more packages as IK Multimedia T-RackS EQ plug-in. This is a great equalizer and mastering tool, which only sells for about $ 300. However, all include some excellent software like Reason, Ableton Live, SampleTank and AmpliTube.

So, for someone who wants to record in Pro Tools right away with everything you need and more, then one of these digidesigns Pro Tools Package is for you.

Almost forgot … they all come with a mic stand and cables!
