The principle and in orbit
The astronauts knew exactly how the surface of the Moon and, possibly, seemed to feel. This is because the robots were sent there to land. Three Ranger boat accident in 1964 and 1965 landed in 1966 and 1967 were followed by the Lunar Orbiter art turned around the Moon and sent valuable information.
The Landing
In 1966, the Soviet Lunia IX soft landing on the moon. After that seven U.S. ships Surveyor soft landing 1966 to 1968. Only five were successful but sent pictures and little details in relation to the ground. It could collect and analyze the ground floor. This was great, but then it was time to visit.
Apollo
For years, astronauts had been preparing and return to the moon on Christmas Eve 1968. But the big day arrived on 20 July 1969, when the Americans finally landed. Samples rocks and soil were brought back for scientists to analyze. Apollo landed at 12.15 and 17 mare surfaces and found to be lava flows. Rocks were crushed evidence of a violent past. Apollo 13 did not land and landed 14 in Fra Mauro.
Lunar vehicles
Then, the USSR built Luna 16 and 20 which not only flew to the moon, but also returned with samples. Two other spacecraft called Lunokhod made short trips of 10 and 37 kilometers respectively.
Last Mission
The lunar roving vehicle with a camera on board the Apollo astronauts to the areas exciting. During the mission Apollo 17 was found with one of the most unusual lunar samples: the orange soil caused by small orange grains formed in a volcanic eruption 3,500 million years. Astronauts left behind a network of instruments such as seismographs to record moonquakes. These instruments record explosive charges fired in the Apollo 17 mission and who walked the moon and gave valuable information on the inner structure.
