What does it mean when you approach the camera and the center will focuss red?

I have a FinePix camera, 10 Z, and when I concentrate, the trigger focus on the camera turns red when I'm finishing up approach and says FM in the corner. When I finished taking the picture, the image appears more blurred then focuses and the trigger remains blank center. Why does my camera do this? I lost my manual, that's why I'm asking. Does anyone know if there is a manual I read that line?

The trigger of heart or "The focus indicator is red when the FinePix Z10 can not focus on the subject or scene. Reasons why can not focus: 1. It's too close to the subject, while zoom in 2. It is too dark for the camera focus 3. The issue of lack of contrast (such as the blue sky) You can read more about Z10 focus errors on page 126 of the user manual.
